What printing methods do you offer?
Most of our custom apparel is produced using DTF (Direct to Film) printing. It gives us a lot of flexibility with colour, detail, garment choice and order quantities, without needing to set up individual screens for each colour.
For larger volume orders, we can also offer screen printing where it makes sense for the artwork and quantity.
You don’t need to know which process you need. Send us your artwork and order details and we’ll recommend the best way to produce it.
How many colours can I print?
With DTF printing, you’re not limited to a set number of print colours. We can reproduce detailed, full-colour artwork, gradients and photographic elements without needing a separate screen for every colour.
There are some limitations. Exact PMS and spot colour matching, fluorescent inks and certain specialty colours or finishes aren’t achievable through standard DTF printing.
For larger custom runs where precise spot colours or a particular finish is important, screen printing may be the better option.
Do you offer screen printing?
Yep! Screen printing is available for larger custom orders where the quantity and artwork make it the right production method.
It’s particularly well suited to larger runs, designs with defined colours and jobs where specific spot colours or traditional screen printed finishes are required.
For smaller runs or detailed full-colour artwork, DTF will usually make more sense.
Do you offer embroidery?
Yep. Embroidery is available across a range of garments and headwear and is a great option when you’re after a clean, durable finish.
Not every design translates perfectly to embroidery, particularly artwork with very fine details, gradients or small text. We’ll look over your artwork and let you know if anything needs to be adjusted before production.
Where can my design be printed?
Front, back, left chest and sleeves are all common options, but we’re not necessarily limited to those.
What’s possible will depend on the garment, artwork, print size and construction of the item.
If you’ve got an unusual placement in mind, send it through. We’ll let you know what’s possible.
Can you print over seams, pockets or zips?
Sometimes, but it depends on the garment and the design.
Seams, pockets, zips and other uneven areas can affect how a print applies and may limit the size or position of the artwork.
If you’re chasing a less conventional placement, we’ll assess the garment and let you know the best way to approach it.
How durable are DTF prints?
When properly produced and cared for, DTF prints are made to handle regular wear and washing.
For the best life out of your garment, wash it inside out on a cold or cool cycle, avoid harsh detergents or bleach, and don’t iron directly over the print.
Treat your gear well and it’ll return the favour.
What garments can I choose from?
A lot! Tees, hoodies, crews, polos, workwear, headwear and plenty more.
We work with a range of apparel suppliers, so instead of throwing a giant catalogue at you, we can help narrow down the options based on your style, use and budget.
Can you help me choose the right blank?
100%. Fit and fabric matter just as much as the print.
Tell us what sort of feel you’re after — heavyweight, oversized, classic, lightweight, workwear, premium, budget-friendly — and we’ll point you toward suitable options.
Can I mix garment colours or sizes in one order?
Usually, yes. Sizing and colour combinations can generally be mixed within an order, although some production requirements or garment minimums may apply.
We’ll confirm all of that before anything goes into production.
Can I supply my own garments?
Potentially! We prefer to look at supplied garments first because not every fabric or garment construction is suitable for every decoration method.
Talk to us before buying anything and we’ll let you know what’s workable.
What artwork files do you need?
We can work with both vector and high-resolution raster artwork. The best format depends on your design and how it will be produced.
Vector Artwork
Vector files are ideal for logos, typography and solid graphic artwork. They can be scaled without losing quality and give us greater control when preparing artwork for production.
Preferred vector formats include AI, EPS, SVG and print-ready vector PDF.
Keep in mind that simply saving or placing an image inside a vector file doesn’t make the artwork vector. AI, EPS and PDF files can still contain raster images, which remain dependent on their original resolution.
Raster Artwork
Raster files are made from pixels and are commonly used for illustrations, photographs, textures and detailed full-colour artwork. For the best print result, we recommend raster artwork at 300 DPI at the final intended print size wherever possible.
High-resolution PNG files with transparent backgrounds are generally ideal for artwork uploaded through our DIY Builder.
Increasing the physical size of a raster image does not increase its quality. If a small or low-resolution image is enlarged for a large print, the final result may appear soft, blurry or pixelated.
Using our DIY Builder?
Artwork uploaded through our DIY Builder is considered supplied print-ready.
Please check your files carefully before ordering. Artwork uploaded through the builder is not manually inspected by our team for resolution, image quality, sizing, spelling, unwanted backgrounds or other artwork errors.
What you upload is what we print.
If you’re unsure whether your artwork is suitable, get in touch with us before placing your order. If your files need additional preparation, rebuilding or design work, we can also help through Drefly Studio.
What if my artwork isn’t print ready?
If your artwork isn’t quite ready for production, we can help through Drefly Studio, our graphic design and artwork service.
Whether your artwork needs to be cleaned up, rebuilt, vectorised or developed further, our Studio can prepare it for production.
Studio services are quoted separately and are an additional cost to the printing and supply of your apparel.
If you’re unsure whether your artwork is print ready, send it through and we can point you in the right direction.
I don’t have artwork. Can you design it for me?
Absolutely. If you’ve got an idea but need someone to bring it to life, Drefly Studio offers custom graphic design for apparel and merchandise.
Whether you’re starting with a rough concept, an existing brand or just an idea, we can develop original artwork specifically with the final garment and production method in mind.
Custom design is quoted separately from the printing and supply of your apparel, based on the scope of the project.
Can you design a full merch range?
If you’re looking for more than a logo on a tee, Drefly Studio can help develop a cohesive range of custom merchandise around your brand, business, event or idea.
This can include custom graphics, garment concepts, artwork variations, print placements and designs developed to work together as a collection.
Tell us what you’re looking to create and we can scope the design and production sides of the project with you.
Can you recreate or clean up an existing design?
In many cases, yes. If you’ve only got an old file, low-resolution logo or artwork that needs rebuilding, send us what you have and we’ll take a look.
Any redrawing, vectorisation, artwork preparation or design work required will be handled through Drefly Studio and quoted separately from the printing and supply of your apparel.
Will I see my artwork before it’s printed?
For orders placed through our DIY Builder, the mock-up you create is your final artwork proof. Make sure you’re happy with the artwork, size, placement and positioning before placing your order, as this is what we’ll use for production.
For custom orders handled directly through our team, we’ll email you a dedicated artwork proof showing your design, placement and relevant production details before anything goes to print.
Custom jobs won’t enter production until the artwork proof has been approved.
How long does an order take?
Turnaround depends on the garments, quantity, production method and how busy things are at the time.
We’ll give you an expected timeframe when your order is quoted or confirmed.
If you’ve got an event or hard deadline, tell us from the start.
When does the turnaround time start?
Once the job is confirmed, artwork is approved and everything required for production is ready to go.
Waiting on artwork approval, garment selections or other information can push your production date back.
Can you do urgent orders?
Sometimes… If you’ve left it until the eleventh hour, give us the date and we’ll tell you what we can realistically do.
No bullshit promises just to get the order.
Do you ship Australia-wide?
Yep.We can send finished orders Australia-wide.
Shipping costs and delivery times will depend on the size of the order and where it’s heading.
